I'd forgotten about a particular academic journal submission until this weekend and I bothered to look it up. Submitted June 10, and today is the five-month anniversary. No, that's not so very unusual with academic journals, though many will respond within three months. I will take this as a good sign because, dammit, I need a good sign.
Otherwise, I'm shopping around for my next research project. I just sent one off this week to a tier 1 journal and I have nothing "on deck." I do have three or four ideas but so far none has grabbed me by the collar and shoved me against the academic wall and shouted: "Research Me!" Data I got. A compelling research idea that I can live with for six months, that I don't have. Yet.
