Debate Drinking Game

As you no doubt know -- and have already stocked up on popcorn and beer for -- the GOP debate is Thursday night. We'll learn Tuesday which 10 of the 17 announced candidates earn a podium on the main stage and which  are voted off the political island and into debate oblivion.

I take this stuff seriously. So in that spirit, I ask -- what's a good drinking game for Thursday night? Some suggestions:
  • Every insult by or toward Donald Trump
  • Every time Hillary Clinton mentioned
  • Every time Trump touches his hair
  • Mentions of Obama
  • Mentions of ISIS/ISIL/ETC
  • Mentions of Obamacare
  • Every attack on Jeb Bush
  • Every time Trump is ignored
You get the idea. I think the insults by or toward Trump will provide you with an adequate buzz, suitable at least for a Thursday night. If the debate were on a Friday night, we'd have to go to several of these to really get a buzz on.

Other suggestions welcome.

The Sean Hannity Drinking Game

Want a good drinking game?  Listen to Sean Hannity's radio show every afternoon and suck down a drink every time he says "specificity."

As in: "Barack Obama wants to take candy from a baby and give it to some other, undeserving baby.  We'll get into this in more specificity on the next hour."

Won't take long for you to get a buzz.

We all have words we unconsciously overuse.  Mine is "booger."  I hear Hannity use "specificity" a lot, so it's a good option, kinda like drinking every time someone said "Hi Bob" on the old Bob Newhart Show.

Of course liberals who listen to Hannity don't need a reason to drink heavily.  And conservatives would never play such a game -- they'd be surrendering local control of their consumption.  That leaves moderates and alcoholics, who may be the same people in these partisan times.

So tune in that favorite AM radio station, get your favorite adult beverage, and get ready to listen and drink.

Cheers!

Oh, and I just found a better Hannity drinking game here.

Debates and Drinking Games

A CNN poll has Barack Obama winning last night's debate. Fifty-four percent said Obama won, 33 percent went with John McCain. If my math is right, 13 percent called it a tie. Yada yada yada.

Let's get to what really matters -- drinking games.

For the VP debate it was "maverick" as the signal to down or chug or shoot or whatever the hell it is people do, depending on what they're drinking. Last night it hit me what the right word/phrase would have been -- "my friends."

By the fifth or so time McCain used it, I realized that was the key phrase of the night. Not as good as a wink, but still it came often enough that you'd get a serious buzz if you followed through with the downing or chugging or shooting.

What did people learn, though, from last night's festivities? Obama is smooth, McCain can have his moments but seems outclassed, or out-presidentialed. They disagree on some key fundamental issues. We got to hear the same talking points again, in case you missed them in the previous debate. And we learned that the town hall format can surprise you with the quality of the questions and how well the candidates respond.
